- Phyllanthus acidus, known as the malacca tree, Otaheite gooseberry, Malay gooseberry, Tahitian gooseberry, Country gooseberry, Star gooseberry, Starberry, West India gooseberry, or simply Gooseberry tree, is one of the trees with edible small yellow berries fruit in the Phyllanthaceae family.
- Highly nutritious. The fruit is rich in vitamin C, vitamin B and vitamin P, as well as protein, fat, fruit acid, tannin, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and 17 kinds of amino acids. Eating it often is beneficial for health.
- USDA Hardiness Zone. Indian gooseberry is a tasty and nutritious fruit that can be eaten raw or cooked in culinary, grown in 4-11(USDA) reaching a mature height of roughly 60 feet.
- Flavor. The fruits are numerous, oblate, with 6 to 8 ribs, and densely clustered. They are pale yellow or white, waxy, crisp and juicy, and very sour.
- Sow. Soak Indian gooseberry seeds for five minutes in a bowl of hot water. Drain the seeds and sow them at a depth of roughly 1/4 inch immediately. Keep soil moist at 20-25 degrees C. Seeds will germinate within 4 to 6 weeks.
