OUR STORY
Our story begins in 1870, in the southern mountains of Cuba where brothers Jóse María and Ramón Gaviña planted the seeds that would become a Gaviña coffee legacy. Francisco Gaviña, our family’s patriarch, played and worked in those coffee fields with his father, learning how to cultivate, and later, roast great coffee. His passion carried on after our family fled Cuba and settled in Los Angeles. He founded F. Gaviña & Sons, Inc. in 1967, fulfilling his dream to roast great quality coffee again.
Today, we work together as the third and fourth generation Gaviñas to ensure we are providing a great cup of coffee you will enjoy every time.
- 1870: The Gaviña Coffee legacy begins in the coffee fields with our ancestors in Cuba
- 1967: Our grandfather, Francisco Gaviña, begins roasting specialty coffee in Los Angeles
- Today: The Gaviñas work together to ensure we are providing coffee you are proud to serve

Product Description
Our family’s tradition of roasting espresso dates back to our Cuban estate where the word “coffee” was synonymous with “espresso.” Café Gaviña Espresso Continental, the first product we sold in the U.S., draws its signature rich and aromatic flavor from our Spanish origins. Our passion for that bold, balanced flavor continues to this day. Nothing can beat the rich flavor of our espressos.
