ORGANIC FARMING |
WILDCRAFTINGThe highest quality plants are often found growing in their natural, or “wild” habitat. Eclectic sustainably wildcrafts with proper respect for the plants to ensure that future generations may continue to grow. Wildcrafted plants include St. John’s wort, stinging nettles, uva ursi, and elderberries. |
FREEZE-DRYINGFreeze-drying preserves in the gentlest possible way by removing only the water, leaving all the nutrients, vitamins, and phytochemicals in the same balance as found in nature. LLOYD’S COLD STILL Eclectic uses unique cold distillation processes to create our alcohol-free extracts. Our glycerite line is the same strength as our standard extract line and uses no heat. Our Lloyd still was developed by the renowned pharmacist John Uri Lloyd – and is the same as the Lloyd still that can be found on display at the Smithsonian museum. |
BEGINNINGSOur founder was a pharmacist who grew interested in naturopathic medicine after seeing patients returning for repeat prescriptions and wondering when they were going to get well. After graduating from the national college of naturopathic medicine, Ed Alstat started the company within the school’s clinic dispensary. With this auspicious beginning, the company’s primary focus has always been on people’s health and wellness. |

MANUFACTURINGOur manufacturing plant is located inside a custom-fit airplant hangar in a rural location surrounded by nature. We do our own freeze-drying, encapsulation, bottling, and packaging of our supplements. We also do a number of private label products. FAMILY OWNED Eclectic Institute is still owned by the found and his family and has its founding values intact. Many of our products were created with his own children in mind and have supported lots of families throughout the years. To meet the high standards of our founder, all of our products must be effective, ethical, and easy to use. |
HEALTH AS A VALUEWith a naturopathic physician as founder and owner, Eclectic Institute’s goal has always been to “Get people well.” Never compromising or taking shortcuts, we grow, freeze-dry, and package products ourselves to ensure that every step of the process meets our high standards. TRADITION AND INNOVATION By combining ancient herbal lore with modern technology, our supplements have the best of both worlds. Eclectic uses naturopathic wisdom and innovative processes to create exceptional products. Our herbs are harvested at peak potency, and then freeze-dried in-house. We give you the closest thing to an herb picked fresh from your garden in the convenience of a capsule or powder. No shortcuts, no gimmicks, and no substitution for quality |
ETHICAL AND SUSTAINABLEWe grow herbs on our organic farm using biodynamic farming techniques. We also source from other local farms to ensure freshness and quality. We always prefer American grown and are particular about the country of origin of our raw materials. |
