Good To Know:
We make a big thing about real tea. By real tea, we mean BIG, whole tea leaves, whole herbs, whole berries, whole spices …you get the picture.
Big leaf = Big flavor… simple!
Given that tea solves all of life’s problems (…for the most part), why would you scrimp on the good stuff!?
You can’t fit big loose leaf tea into a normal paper teabag. That’s why our teas come in tea “temples” – a roomy bag that gives the leaves the freedom to move about and release their big, bold flavor. Loose tea – in a bag.
If you’re already a real tea convert, hooray… our work here is done. If not, now’s your chance to upgrade to something way better, and see what we mean by real tea!
We have 34 teas in all shapes and sizes. Not sure where to start? Try our english breakfast, it’s a game changer.
Donation from every pack
Most of the tea for our signature english breakfast comes from Gisenyi in Rwanda and we work with the Point Foundation – who are based there – to support orphans and vulnerable young people in the area. We make a donation to the Point Foundation with every pack of english breakfast we sell. We also match donations our customers make on our website and run regular fundraising efforts, so whether intentionally or not, if you’ve ever bought our english breakfast you are responsible for some amazing work being carried out in Rwanda – thank you!!
Teapigs house
The Point Foundation runs a disability program in collaboration with the Gallagher Trust. They manage houses that provide specialist care and accommodation for disabled children and young adults. teapigs fully fund one of the houses – Teapigs house – home to 9 people with disabilities. Our donations also go towards the upkeep of other houses. Sadly, there’s still a huge stigma attached to disability in Rwanda, but this is changing, and with the right support, nutrition, medical, personal and emotional care, people with disabilities have found a new way of living.
Schools
Donations from Teapigs go towards the hidden costs of education like uniforms, school lunches, books and transport at the UCC Children’s School. Over 500 pupils attend the school and 52 of them have severe physical or learning difficulties. The children used to share one book between three but our donations have bought over 400 more books and counting.

Tea temple:Our tea bags (or tea temples!) are made from plant starch and the label on the end of the string is made from simple, old-fashioned paper. Even the ink on the label is vegetable-based, and everything is sealed with heat – so no glue! As a result, you can pop them in your council food waste collection. (A Plastic Planet, 2020) |
Inner bag:The clear inner bag is made from wood pulp. Cool, right!? This means you can pop them in your council food waste for collection or home compost. (Vincotte OK home compost certification, 2020) |
Outer carton:We use sustainable FSC certified paperboard for our outer cartons so you can simply pop them in your recycling bin. (FSC certified, 2020) |
