It all began in the back of a tiny shop in Colonial Williamsburg…
Over 40 years ago, in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg, a small business owner began roasting peanuts in the back of her retail store leaving the front of the store for retail sales. In this shop our cooking process and recipe were perfected, and this this small business has grown into what we know as The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg brand today.

There are four types of peanuts available in the United States, the Virginia type being the largest.
The Peanut Shop of Williamsburg specializes in the Super-Extra Large variety of Virginia Peanuts; the largest market grade available. These are peanuts grown mainly in Virginia and the Carolinas, and less than 3% of all Virginia peanuts grown meet the standard to be considered Super Extra Large!
